5 ways to give your home a new lease of life

I don’t know about you, but as soon as the weather begins warming up, I plan my summer redecorating. In the winter, all I’m interested in is watching Netflix and snuggling under my covers, but as soon as I know summer is around the corner, I’m ready to give my home an overhaul.

Here are 5 ways to give your home a new lease of life:

  1. Think about material

One of the best ways to brighten up your home is to consider the material you’ve used. This is also a relatively cost-effective way to make a big difference in your home- you’d be surprised at how different your home will look for a small amount of money.

Curtains are a great way to do this- if you have heavy winter curtains in a dark colour, consider going lighter and picking up a pretty neutral or a warm cream tone. I’ve also found that changing my bedding for summer helps as well- once my big heavy winter comforter has been put away, I can then bring out a lighter comforter or blanket in a pretty summer shade. 1. Go for indoor/outdoor flow

If you have an outdoor area, now’s the time to make it come alive. Consider getting some outdoor furniture so you can use your outdoor area for dinners and drinks outside when you have friends over. And you’ll also find that it’s easy to bring the outdoors inside with some gorgeous potted plants or some flowers picked from the garden.

  1. Overhaul your bathroom

One of the best ways to make it look like you’ve done some serious redecorating is to spend some time in your bathroom. So many bathrooms can easily be modernised with some new fixtures. Consider updating your tiles, install a new bath or shower, or simply focus on small things like adding some cute seashells, some art, replacing the shower curtain, and incorporating a new theme. Plan around your theme by browsing the catalogs of Online Furniture Stores.

  1. Get painting

While painting can seem like a massive job, it’s one of the things that makes the biggest difference to your home. Choose a weekend with good weather, grab some old clothes and some paint, and get to work. Be sure to scrape off any old wallpaper, and focus on choosing a warm shade that won’t date. Continue the same shade throughout your home to give it a uniform look.

  1. Get the family involved

Have a family meeting and get talking about some ways you could improve your home. Maybe the kids would like to get rid of some of their old toys in exchange for some pocket money. Maybe you can even have a yard sale to get rid of all your clutter. You may even find that some of the kids’ artwork can be used throughout your home to make it feel even more comfortable.
