Top Ways to Kill Time in Airports

I love traveling, it’s one of my favourite hobbies. I love visiting new places, trying new food, exploring new cultures and seeing the famous sites a place has to offer. But the truth is, there are a lot of aspects about travel that can be uncomfortable, from long haul flights, to sitting around in airports waiting for long connections. I decided to make this list of my favourite ways to kill time while traveling, to help you pass your next long trip without being bored or getting too restless. Read on for my favourite top ways to kill time in airports.

1. Listen to an Audiobook
Yes, I love traditional books and they can be a great thing to do while in transit. I prefer audiobooks, though, because when you’re walking around the airport, going through security, making your way to your gate you’ll have to constantly put your book down. With audiobooks, you just plug them in and you can listen to them throughout the entire airport process, allowing you to really get into it and enjoy the story.

2. Play Online Casinos
This can be a fun way to kill time AND make some money. Online casinos have a variety of games, and you can log on and play whenever you want. It’s both mentally stimulating and fun, ensuring that your time in the airport passes faster than you could have imagined. Just be careful not to get so into your games that you miss your flight! 3. Online Shopping
One of my favourite things to do at the end of a long trip, when I’m waiting around in Airports, is to sit down and order my online groceries to be delivered after I’ve arrived home. This saves me a trip to the supermarket and ensures that I’ll get home and be able to cook some delicious meals for myself. It’s a really productive way to spend your time in an airport.

4. Skype a Friend
Perhaps you are like me and have friends spread out across the country or world that you don’t get to see as often as you’d like. If you know you’re going to be stuck in an airport for a good 20 mins or more, why not see if any of your friends are around to Skype. Most airports have free wifi now, so this is a great way to stop yourself from getting bored while actually  getting to catch up on how a friend is doing when you may not otherwise have the time.

5. Traditional Adult Colouring Books
For some of us, flying is really stressful and ignites strong anxiety. If you’re the type of person who sits in an airport counting down the minutes and chewing off your fingers, then perhaps an adult colouring book could be a great way to kill the time while waiting and to take your mind off the flight. They come in a range of designs and sizes, meaning you can easily find one that interests you and will find nicely in your bag. This is an especially great option because you wont chew through your battery and you know you’ll be able to use it even in airports without wifi.
Traveling is so much fun, but no one can deny there are some times where it’s boring. Use these these tips to keep yourself entertained the next time you’re in transit!
