3 Things to do in Miami for Art and Culture Lovers

Miami is such a fun city, with amazing weather almost year-round making it the perfect holiday destination as you’re sure to get spoiled with blue sky days. There are beautiful art deco buildings, a huge influence from the Caribbean and Latin America, as well as a unbeatable food and club scene. Miami really has it all, as well as a bustling art and culture scene, so if you’re looking for some different things to do in this beautiful city, here are my top 3 things to do in Miami for Art and Culture lovers:

1. Shakespeare in the Park
I’m guessing you weren’t expecting to see this on the list, but this is a wonderful cultural performance and best of all it’s free – perfect for those of us on a budget. Live theatre is such a fun and unique cultural experience, and thanks to Shakespeare Miami the 400+ year old plays are more accessible than ever. You can bring a beach chair along, or rent one, bring or buy snacks and enjoy some of the world’s most famous literacy works come to life. There are a few venues and showtimes spread out across the South Florida area meaning you’re probably going to need a rental car to get there easily. You can easily book a Miami rental car, just simply do it online and choose your pick up location and time in advance.

2. Art Week/Art Basel
At the beginning of winter each year – usually a long weekend set in early December – over 100,000 art lovers descent on sunny South Florida to have an unforgettable experience. This is one of Miami’s biggest events each year and is home to a number of cultural events, Art Fairs, exhibitions and so much more. It’s a great way to mingle with other artists and art lovers, to buy incredible art and also for many of us – the perfect way to escape the winter weather if even for a few days.

3. Perez Museum Miami
Also known as PAMM, this wonderful museum focuses on modern and contemporary international art from the 20th and 21st centuries. Admission is affordable, discounted to $12 for seniors and students, and $16 for adults. There’s a wonderful sculpture garden which allows you to indulge in some larger than life art pieces while enjoying the world famous weather. Inside you’ll find a variety of changing exhibitions, ensuring that no two visits are the same and you always have a reason to go back.

Miami has so much to offer the visitor beyond the beautiful beaches, world class food and incredible shopping, art lovers of all ages will be impressed here. Don’t forget to visit Miami Rental Car before your trip so you can arrange your rental car.
