Tips For Planning A Flawless Destination Wedding

Destination weddings are special for the bride and groom and for the close circle of family and friends that go with them. When the wedding takes place in an exotic location, like the Cayman Islands, Hawaii, or Paris, it becomes a journey of a lifetime.

These destinations are accustomed to weddings and they will be able to help you create your dream wedding without issue. Below are a few tips and tricks that will help you plan the flawless wedding.

Tips

  • Take your wedding gown with you on the plane. Let the dressmaker know you are traveling so she can prepare the gown. You will want a dress that travels well, is easy to wear, and is easy to take care of. Lace wedding dresses are the ultimate classic style.

  • Set-up a honeymoon registry site early. Honeyfund is a great (and free) site that allow your guests, family, and friends to gift you for your wedding and engagement online at no charge. You list the items you are wanting and they contribute the amount of money they are willing to gift. Your funds and their funds grow until you can do all the things you want to do for your destination wedding.

  • Choose your destination carefully. If you are able to, visit the location first. Hire a wedding planner that lives in the area, but check their references and website. Never pay for anything in full and in advance.

  • Your guests are spending a lot of money to honor you on this trip. Choose a hotel for them that is no more than 10-minutes away by car.

  • Plan your itinerary in advance and makes sure everyone in on board. That way, you can reserve the event and usually get a group rate.

  • Make sure you have someone lined up at your destination who will press and prepare the dress for the wedding. Sometimes the hotel will accept packages for you. You can UPS or FedEx packages to the hotel allowing you the option of taking the dress onboard the plane.

  • Take advantage of items that are natural to the destination. In a winery, it is inexpensive to decorate the tables with grapevines. Look at the area you choose for your wedding and chose flowers and decorations that are unique to the area. You will have a beautiful wedding, without the expense of shipping plants in.

  • Ask the wedding vendor if the area will be decorated. Sometimes a wedding hall will have lovely, seasonal flowers on display. They may have candles and bows that they will let you use. This will save you time and money.

  • Ask about weekdays. Weekends are always the busiest time for destination wedding locations. You can usually have your choice of venues at a lower cost by booking your wedding on a weekday.

By planning early and paying attention to details, you can pull off a destination wedding without issue. You can have everything you dreamed of without blowing your budget. You just have to prepare for it and ask for a deal. You will be amazed at what you can have, simply by asking.
