4 Tips for Lowering Your Stress Levels

Modern life is stressful – we’re trying to balance work, family life, socialization, maintaining a relationship, keeping our social media accounts active and interesting, as well as keeping ourselves healthy and fit. Just typing that out made me feel stressed! Most people are stressed, so with that in mind, one of the things you might be focusing on for the new year is creative ways to lower your stress. Here are my top 4 tips for lowering your stress levels, so you can feel better, look better and enjoy life more.

1. Ask for Help
If you’re juggling too much, whether at home or at work, it’s okay to ask for help. That may look like hiring an assistant to help manage some tasks, outsourcing your move to some moving companies rather than trying to do it for yourself, or asking for your parents to babysit for a weekend to get a break. Too often we try to do everything ourselves, loading our plates up and leaving us feeling stressed and frazzled. Asking for help before you’re overwhelmed can be good for your mental health, as well as ensuring that you’re not suffering from burnout.

2. Outsource Things
If you work, then it can be important to show your workload when it gets too big. You can choose to work with a seo company in Vancouver to help your rankings, rather than trying to do it all yourself. You can hire a weekly or monthly deep cleaning service to come through your home and do all the things you’ve not got time for like cleaning your bathrooms and dusting. If you’re a parent, it can be helpful to enlist your partner to help out with regular parts of your daily routine with the children so you’re getting help and a regular break.

3. Self Care
I feel like ‘self-care’ is such a buzz phrase at the moment, that it’s almost lost its meaning, but it is so important. If you’re not taking care of yourself, then you won’t have the internal resources to take care of others. Self-care looks different for everyone – it can be as simple as getting some foot care and pampering – click here for a great clinic – or it can be a solid hour alone every night to meditate and read. One thing that can help is figuring out what your love language is, and then finding self-care that works around that. For example, my love language is touch, so one of the most restorative things I can do for myself is to get a massage. If yours is ‘words of affirmation’, maybe a coffee date with a best friend will fill your cup up more.

4. Yoga
If you’ve not tried yoga, then you may be missing out on something that can transform your stress levels very quickly. Yoga works with a range of movements as well as certain breathing styles to help reduce stress. Not only can it help with your stress levels, but it can be a great way to meet new people (if you go to a studio) and is also great for your body and fitness.

If you’re feeling stressed, then hopefully these tips can help you to lower your stress level. There’s no reason to live your daily life feeling overwhelmed and without being able to relax.
