Nice post. I think having any kind of non-default background on Twitter shows "professionalism", let alone if your background is well thought out and designed.

I personally found this blog through Twitter just a minute ago, so your background sure does work as intended :)

@Miguel People WILL see through sooner or later if the person is not genuinely an expert. The point is if you ARE one, it does not mean others will see you as one.

I have a friend who have great expertise as a whole-brain trainer for kids but never seem to breakthrough, simply because he lacks the branding and marketing skills to create the right perception.

On the other hand, if you are NOT an expert yet but you are striving to become one, it does help to create the perception first, because you would be extremely motivated to meet people's expectations.

Tom,

Personal branding is a hot topic. And I've reading a lot about it lately. Still digesting and sorting my thoughts and reactions. I agree, perception is everything but if the perception the individual is attempting to create is not truthful, what do we call that? People, I hope, can see through foggy smoke screens. Also, if someone isn't satisfied with the image they've created, it's never to late to change it. Lazy need not apply. :)
