Sunday Question: What Would You Be Doing If The Internet Did Not Exist?

I have decided to trial a new weekly segment out called ‘Sunday Question’, where I will provide for you all a thought provoking question that will hopefully give us a way to get to know each other a bit better.

If I get a good response with this question I will turn it into a permanent segment.

THIS WEEKS SUNDAY QUESTION:

What would you be doing with your life if the internet did not exist?

I think it is safe to say the majority of us spend way to much time on the internet, blogging and internet marketing. So if the internet suddenly dissapeared what would you do with your life? What career path would you pursue?

For me I would definately be finding a career in finance or investments. It’s probably not the best time, but I’d love to get into stock broking! And I would be working to build my own property development company.

What about you? What would you be doing?

Hmm… i guess i would be playing PS3/Wii/xBox or take some freelance job.

But most likely, I would probably won’t be where I am right now career-wise and health-wise.

Career-wise because I wouldn’t be able to pull-off some tricks that attracted some boss to hire me. Most of my skills I learned by researching from the Internet and trying it out.

Health-wise because I have a rare scalp disease problem a few years ago. Going to more than a dozen doctors didn’t help. After a few months of research, forums and feedback from other users I found a treatment that works.

On the other hand, I might have pursued a career in medicine instead of MIS and that would have solved all my problems. LOL

Life… so many possibilities and yet options are so few.

You made me think on that one! Actually you have to make it clearer (because you have diffrent questions). What would I do if the internet suddenly disappeared? I will definitely cry! Damn, I have some 3 figures on paypal right now and some high end 3 figure receivables from affiliate companies! But well to your main question? I would say I would build a company based on sports. Or Maybe I could just continue pursuing my basketball career

Well….the beautiful part of my answer is that I am literlly sitting here with a person who doesn’t even know how to use a mouse.

    My Father.

He trips out on everything I do online. It is quite entertaining. I try to explain it in the easiest way possible way but he resists it at all costs.

My world revolves around the internet – I live and breathe the internet – it would be catastrophic for me. Then I thought to myself, I’d lived without it before, but I can’t remember if I was a lot happier then :)

Well if the internet didn’t exist I wouldn’t be reading or posting this. I think I would probably already be working full time for some type of marketing business.

If Internet wouldn’t exist my current job (which is not Internet based) would have a much slower pace and it would be much easier to have a good quality of life. If mobile phones would not exist people calling you while on the road and already on another call would not expect a call back in the next 5 minutes and would be happy to reach you within the next two days. Without email people would think twice before writing nonsense. Input for actions and projects would be shared in person or by written memos, again at a slower pace. It is this executive grind that made me think of a dedicated blog to the challenge of having a decent quality of life while working at Internet pace…Quality Of Life For Executives http://www.qolfe.com …comments and your contributions very welcome.

great thoughts guys! I like how QOLFE mentioned how life would go at a much slower rate, but also a good quality of life might be easier to achieve.

How easy is it for us to spend out whole day online with minimal interaction with others and no exercise.
