How To Create A Facebook Page For Your Blog

Facebook has quickly become a worldwide phenomena quickly becoming the 2nd most popular website in the world (after Google and according to Alexa.com), and in quite a few countries it even outranks Google in popularity.

This should definitely be reason enough to see the need for creating a Facebook page for your blog.

I find it extremely strange that so many bloggers have a Twitter account but not a Facebook page – wouldn’t you want to take advantage of over 400MILLION (and counting) users (read If Facebook Were A Country)

So how do we take advantage of this amazing opportunity with our blogs… do we just post links to our latest articles to our personal Facebook wall, or is there a better way?

Facebook Pages For Blogs

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to spam my latest blog posts onto my personal Facebook page where it frustrates all my friends and relatives that have no idea even what a blog (or even care). That is why I created a Facebook Fan Page for StandOutBlogger yesterday and also set up a landing page (which I will do a post on later) to funnel fans into my success blogging e-course.

I wanted to take everyone else through the whole process…

1. Create Facebook Page

In the left sidebar of your personal Facebook profile click on the tab ‘Ads and Pages’. This will take you to a new page that looks like the inset image above, click create page to start things off. (more…)

I Am The Proud Dad Of Isabelle Rose!

I wanted to update the StandOutBlogger family with some exciting news. If you don’t follow me on Twitter (@StandOutBlogger) then you may have missed out on the massive news on Wednesday!

My gorgeous daughter Isabelle Rose was born and Mum (Fiona) and Bubby (Isabelle) and doing well.

I have just come back from the hospital and wanted to update you all with some of the details and a photo (plus let you know when some comments are not getting replied to and posts are not being written (no internet at the hospital).

Name: Isabelle Rose

Born: 30th June, 3:38pm

Weight: 6 Pound 8 Ounces

Where Did The Name Come From?

We absolutely loved the name Isabelle (which means God’s Promise) and it has a good range of options for nicknames (like Belle, Bella and Izzy) – and Rose is my wife’s middle name.

So forgive me if there are no posts over the next couple of days as I spend some quality time with my two beautiful girls!

PS. Wonder how many years until I can get her blogging? :D

The Simple Change That Increased My Blog Profit By 50%

blog profit The Simple Change That Increased My Blog Profit By 50%I have been testing and tweaking different money making strategies on one of my blogs because I wanted to see if I could make some more money from it.

FranchiseBuzz is an Australian blog that I started late last year, worked for a couple of months and it grabbed some nice search positions and hasn’t had a new post in a couple of months – yet it has still be bringing in consistent income on a monthly basis.

Now since about February it is comfortably been making about $100 a month through Google Adsense. I had a very ugly theme with a lot of ad’s – but it was converting well.

$100 was nice, but at less than 5% of my total online income – I wanted more.

What I Did To Increase Blog Profit By 50%

1. Changed from the BlueSense WordPress theme to a much cleaner Librio theme (which was inspired by Mac OS X Leopard).

2. Placed a simple Clickbank review at the top and bottom of each post.

I spent a lot of time browsing the Clickbank marketplace to find what I thought would be the perfect product for the target audience and seems I was right with 4 sales in the last month.

So one month on from implimenting these simple changes this blog is now making:

  • Adsense: $61
  • Clickbank: $103

I just wanted to show why we need to be constantly be tweaking our blogs for maximum profit! There is still more tweaking to be done with this blog but I am happy with a $150 a month for a blog that I don’t post to any more.

Question:

What simple things have you implemented on your blog to see a great result?

SEOPower Plugin Review (Update)

seopower plugin SEOPower Plugin Review (Update)

A couple of weeks ago I made a post about the new SEOpower plugin.

It looks like quite a few of your took advantage of the plugin and installed in on your blog – and if you did, you would have some great research statistics like the image above!

These statistics are for my ‘Outsourcing Jobs Overseas‘ and I find my initial keywords to target using Market Samurai. But the think that I find interesting is that out of the keyphrases above, only 3 of them are ones that I was officially targeting (based off my Market Samurai research).

The SEOpower plugin let’s me know how much traffic I am getting from Google from those phrases (based on my current rank) and also shows me hidden phrases that I didn’t even know I was getting traffic for.

However the main thing I love is comparing the hits to position ratio.

If I have previously got 41 hits because I rank 10th on Google for ‘tim ferriss scam‘ then imagine what that number will be if I rank 1?

So I mainly use the SEO power plugin for finding which keywords are really working for me – so I know which one to outsource link building on (so I rank higher and get more traffic to my blogs!)

So if you haven’t downloaded this free seo plugin I highly recommend that you install it and give it a go for yourself.

Whats Going On With FeedBurner Lately?

feedburner Whats Going On With FeedBurner Lately?

Seriously, what has been going on with FeedBurner over the last couple of weeks?

Is it just me or have other people been losing and then regaining about 50% of their subscriber count on almost a daily basis?

You will see from the image above (green line) that I have been dropping from 2,200 subscribers to just over 1,000 (1,040 today) regularly over the last 2 weeks.

I am guessing that it has to do with certain subscription methods not being counted but you would think that they could get their service right (I mean it is owned by Google).

Well that is all I had to add today, has anyone else experienced these FeedBurner problems? Or is it just me?

PS. I know that my subscription count has flat-lined over the last couple of months, this is due to the fact that I have stopped promoting my free ebook until I relaunch StandOutBlogger with a new design, a new direction and a new free ebook!
