Planning a wedding sounds like fun. After all, you’ve got the largest budget you’re ever likely to have for a party, and you’ll be committing to the one you love. Unfortunately, there’s a reason why so many brides turn into bridezillas- planning a wedding is stressful.
Wedding planning is a nonstop stream of tricky decisions. From decorations and dancing to favors and food, there are hundreds of choices that you’ll need to make in the months leading up to your wedding. Even the most organised bride-to-be can find it difficult to manage all the different parts of the wedding.
If you’re not using a wedding planner, here are a few tips to ensure your planning goes smoothly:
Avoid hiring friends and family
It sounds perfect right? Not only will you get a nice discount, but you’ll be using someone who’s also emotionally invested in your wedding. Realistically, it can be difficult to express likes and dislikes when you’re trying to avoid hurting someone’s feelings. The last thing you need is to add more stress to your plate. Use a professional whenever possible.
Set aside time to plan
If you’re not careful, planning a wedding can take over your life. And there’s only so many times even the most dedicated bridesmaid can debate flower choices. Set aside set times each week to think only of your wedding, discuss ideas, and make decisions. When you’re not working on the wedding, try to relax and enjoy the rest of your life.
Procrastinating early on will make you a very stressed-out bride-to-be as you get closer to your wedding. As soon as you’ve locked down a date and booked your venue, it’s time to send out wedding invitations. This will ensure that everyone can mark your wedding in their calendar- something that’s particularly crucial if you have a lot of guests from out of town or you’re having a destination wedding. Invitations can get expensive, so check out some of these wedding invitation examples from Basic Invite. You can create your own invitations at a fraction of the price of many other sites.
Look after yourself
All eyes are on you on your big day, which is why it can be tempting to crash diet. Instead, remember that your fiance is marrying you the way you are now for a reason. While it’s natural to want to look your best, make sure you’re getting enough macro and micronutrients as you prepare for your big day- and definitely be sure to get enough sleep. On the day of the ceremony, make sure you eat a nice big breakfast in the morning and take some time to actually eat at your reception.
