As part of my Market Samurai Review, I have created a new blog from scratch and using the power of Market Samurai to help me create a profitable blog.
I will be using article marketing and a lot of free link building methods to generate top 3 search rankings for my desired keywords. This means that I will need either need to start writing a heap of articles or hire a SEO article writer.
However, as this is a bit of a side project, and I have quite a lot on at the moment, I decided to take the second option and start looking for a place to hire SEO article writers -but I didn’t want to pay too much.
Where Do You Find SEO Article Writers?
There are a heap of freelancer websites that you can choose from, but the one that I decided with was oDesk.
I found out about oDesk from a friend of mine who managed to get a personal assistant for less that $2 an hour! As soon as I heard that, I thought:
‘WOW, if there are people that are willing to work for $2 an hour or less – then why should I have to pay $5 an article?’
So I decided to head over to oDesk and check out whether I could find some cheap SEO article writers, and I was pleasantly surprised.
There were a heap of SEO article writers willing to work from about $1-2 an article.
I Am Getting 10 Articles As A Test
I decided to test out oDesk and put in a job request for 10 Keyword Articles of between 400-600 words and within 24 hours I had 4 candidates and selected one from America for $16 for the 10 articles (or just $1.60 per article)!
Right now I have given the keywords to the SEO article writer and she has started writing them, and I will give an update once I have received them.
But for $1.6 per article, I can see myself using oDesk on a regular basis, as this will help streamline my niche blogs!
Has anyone had any experience with oDesk?

I’m sorry but it is folks like you that make it so hard for people to make a living writing. How could you possibly expect quality articles from someone who would work for less than $1.60 per hour?
This is exactly why I left sites like Odesk and shun bidding sites.
Your landing page has you calling yourself a writer. If that is true, you wouldn’t support this type of ridiculous behavior.
Unsubscribed,
George
I dunno, I might actually feel bad paying so little; weird maybe. lol
OK when you say SEO article, do you mean articles about SEO or articles written primarily for the SE’s and not particularly readers?

Gearoge – Sure I can definitely see your point, but if you read my article I mentioned that I was doing this purely as a test of Market Samurai’s capabilities and that as it was a side project – I didn’t have time to write the articles myself.
As this is a test, I could not justify paying someone $10-$20 an article.
And you are write, I do call myself a writer, but first and foremost I am a blogger and internet marketer (and writing is just something I do for fun).
I’m sorry to see you go, but it seems we are aiming in opposite directions.
Dennis – I totally understand, but who are we to judge? If people want to work for that much or need the money, then are we not just giving them business?
And sorry, yea I meant articles that are keyword targeted for http://extralargedogkennel.com. I am just starting to get the articles back now, so will do a review in the next day or two!
Tom,
Classy response to my pissy comment. Best of luck to you.
Cheers

Just because $2 an article seems low, doesn’t mean it is. In the US, $2 an article is nothing, whereas in places like the Philippines, India etc, a full time salary of $16 a day (8 hours x 1 article per hour) is more than enough for someone to live on comfortably.
Buying services is an agreement between the buyer and the seller. If they want $1.6 and are happy with it, why in the world would you want to pay them more? Sure if they perform give them bonuses, but offering more than what they want at the start is silly.
Tom, let me know your experiences with oDesk. I checked it out, didn’t really get enough decent responses for things I need (programming, design) so couldn’t be bothered to setup credit card etc. I suppose for writing jobs it could be decent but my employees take care of that.

Jason – I could not agree more.
I have received 9 of the 10 articles so far, and they quality has been fantastic. The lady (who actually is from the US, wrote really personal articles that were still very keyword optimised.

I did only get 4 responses to my job inquiry but her credentials were good and I am extremely happy with the outcome.
I cannot vouch for design and programming on odesk, but for articles my experience has been a 10 out of 10!
Tom,
“If people want to work for that much or need the money, then are we not just giving them business?”
The reason I feel bad is because I’m thinkin’ those prices are where they are because either they think they have no choice, or maybe they don’t for one reason or another.
Know what I mean?

That’s a good price. But the only problm(doubt) that comes is will it be a quality article ? ? will be waiting for ur review on those articles & on odesk..

I live in the Philippines and $2 (or P90) is the lowest/minimum an article writer could get. If you pay peanuts, you’ll get monkeys. But if you pay good, you’ll get the the best. There are a lot of good article writers here and the average pay per article is $4. I know a lot of good writers and you can contact me personally.

I’m an odesk freelancer at the same time article writer. I’m from the Philippines and I think $2 is not that low for us. Working 10 articles a day 10 x 2= $20 and that is big for one day, and I can leave comfotably with that salary per day.
Yes you can easily hire blogger from odesk with a rate even $1 there are willing to write articles for you. Odesk is a nice freelance site.

I don’t understand why he got all upset about it. People don’t seem to get the fact that writing has slowly moved towards becoming a commodity ESPECIALLY if you’re just trying to target search traffic and don’t care about latching onto repeat visitors.
Also, people have a choice to not take the job. You’re not forcing it on them and there’s a good chance you’ll end up paying them a lot more than they can get doing the work elsewhere (if they’re out of country)

I couldn’t agree with you more Chris! I think it is funny that people think we are ripping people off, when as kids we are given a small amount of money to mow the lawn (a lot less then they would pay someone else) – does that mean our parents were ripping us off?
It is just difference in economies.
Tom,
Would you be willing to share the name of your writer? I have a dog treat site, and often need articles written.
Cheers,
Jeff
