I have been thinking lately about the importance of reading other blogs after reading a few blog posts saying that we should stop reading blogs and just start doing.
While I can see where they are coming from, I also think that stopping reading blogs is one of the worst things that a blogger can do. Reading blogs is a lot like eating breakfast in the morning, and we all know how important that is – don’t we?
People who have breakfast in the morning had improved awareness, concentration and psycho -social behaviors, and less hyper activity.
When we don’t eat breakfast in the morning, we are not giving our body and mind the fuel it needs to perform certain tasks. This results in us losing our concentration and a few other things.
It is exactly the same for us as bloggers. If we are not starting our day reading blogs, we tend to lose our focus and attention of what we are meant to do for the day – and other things start to clog up our day, leaving you wondering at the end of the day why you didn’t get a blog post written, and what did you even do today!
Hunger sets in will before lunch, if breakfast is not eaten and as it is not convenient to eat healthy people tend to snack on foods that are high in fat or sugar.
How true is this. If you don’t start your day right – with a healthy dose of quality blogs, you tend to get distracted and start ‘snacking’ on junk food like:
- Online Games
- DIGG
- Myspace
- Random Googling
You know exactly what I mean, and if you don’t make a good start to the day productivity usually goes out the window and you are left wondering where the day went.
Breakfast helps prevent the mid-morning slump
Ever get a couple of hours into your day and find yourself getting distracted and ‘hungry’ for something different? This could be because you have not stopped and taken the time to have the ‘breakfast of blogging champions’ which provides you with not only the concentration but it also gives you the fuel to keep going.
What is this fuel? Knowledge. Gaining increased knowledge each day is essential for every blogger. We need to constantly be increasing what we know about our topic, otherwise we would be left with nothing to blog on. I find that when I’m reading blogs in the morning, one of them will have something in them that will get me excited to learn more about an idea or product and give me the fuel to increase my knowledge.
Breakfast is delicious
Who doesn’t like the taste of breakfast? I mean there are so many options available:
- Toast
- Cereal
- Bacon and Eggs
- Leftovers from last night
That is making me hungry already (probably because I’m writing this before eating breakfast!), but do you get what I mean? If you are a blogger, should you not want to be reading other blogs? It should be something that you enjoy- cause if as a blogger you don’t enjoy reading blogs, then how can you expect non-bloggers too!
That is why I eat blogs for breakfast. You should give it a try!

I Eat Blogs For Breakfast : Stand Out Blogger…
I have been thinking lately about the importance of reading other blogs after reading a few blog posts saying that we should stop reading blogs and just start doing.
While I can see where they are coming from, I also think that stopping reading blogs …
Hey this is really clever…………..
Tom – Great article! I agree with you. The blogs I read are like vitamins for my mind. They keep me thinking in the right direction. Of course, the web can be a source of a lot of time wasting and distraction so it is important to stay focused on good stuff as you suggest.
This is another great post Tom! You have done extremely well at promoting your blog.
I know what it’s like to get clogged up eating “junk food” (seriously and not seriously), though sometimes I can be carried away, say when I am writing a post and I want to link to something, then there is new content there, and I take a look at that, and a link there looks interesting, and o I am carried off. The AIM dashboard at startup also keeps me for a while reading the news.
It is important to start off your days eating a good breakfast, and reading good blogs, so you can continue your day in the right direction.
Great Post Tom Wish i could eat blogs for breakfast you got a good point ill give it a try ~Nick~
Tom,
I couldn’t agree with you more. I begin every work day by checking Google Reader and doing a quick skim over the headlines. It gets my juices flowing and inspires great ideas for posts I can write right then and ideas for posts I can expand upon for later.
Damn good post! I have to say that I do eat blogs but for lunch actually because I start the mornings working on my adult sites witch provide my daily breakfast :) The idea is great not only I read quite a few blogs daily for inspiration but sometimes I collect information that put into practice turns into cash.
I will take your advice and digest blogs first thing in the morning as the mind is clearer..
