How To Successfully Run Multiple Blogs

I know a lot of you have more than one blog. I have 3 - ok 4 (I am just launching a new one).
Why Do I Have More Than One Blog?
I have read on a fair few blogs now that say the successful bloggers, the ones that are making the big dollars from blogging, are the ones that have multiple blogs.
This got me thinking about what I want from blogging, and you know what? I want to be successful. I want to be able to make a full time income from my blogging and I know that even when this blog gets to a certain level of success, I will still need more to be happy with my blogging income.
Which is why I am looking at really focusing on working on a few of my blogs that are currently very neglected, and also going to start a completely new blog as well.
Now before you get all worried that I will stop posting here, and stop being so active in our great blogging community - I won’t. I have been looking at ways to grow these blogs with as little effort as possible, because I don’t want it affecting this blog at all.
So Here Are A Few Tips On How To Successfully Run Multiple Blogs - Without Neglecting Them
- Learn Time Management
I think that if we all for one day decided to stop and write down where every minute of our day was being spent, we would be shocked at how much of our day was being wasted. Whether it be playing games, checking our emails to many times a day, obsessively checking traffic and affiliate stats, or msn. What if we could use this time better and start spending it on building our blogs - I wonder how much more successful our blogs would be then!
- Put A Focus On SEO Traffic
This is something I have never done, but something I will be doing from now on. SEO traffic makes sense, because it means you do not have to constantly be looking for new traffic - you already have a steady flow coming from quality keywords/phrases.With my blogs I will be finding quality keywords and phrases that are search a lot - yet have little competition. If I can write targeted posts to the keywords and phrases, my chances of listing well in the search engines and receiving search engine traffic daily is great. This will especially benefit my other blogs as it means that I will not have to spend much time commenting and marketing the blogs - my main traffic source will be search engine traffic.
- Take Scheduled Breaks From Your Blogs And Your Computer
When you are writing and promoting multiple blogs, writing a couple of posts daily - you are risking the chance of burning out quickly. Something that I am planning on doing starting next week is blogging a 5 day week. Weekends will be personal time, where I do not even turn my computer on. You might think this would be detrimental to my blogs, but I think it will have the opposite affect.I think that with the time away from my blogs and computer on a weekly basis, I will be:- More inspired
- Less prone to burnout
- More time for friends and family
So do you run multiple blogs?
If you do how do you manage it? And have you found it a lot harder than running just one?

I run a few different blogs. I have tons of websites, web2.0 programs and random stuff. But for actual blogs I run 4 pictures “blogs” and 3 regular blogs. It’s easy to get consumed and feel you don’t have time for your other blogs. But if you manage your time well, it gets fairly easy.
Dude!!! So much of what I learned can be added to this post!
First off I am barely on 3 blogs and I am already overwhelemed. It is addiciting and once you realize that people are reading what you write it makes you want to write more and more.
SEO. Very important because it creates income without effort!
Take the weekends off always! Unless you are content and know you could benefit from spending the time.
Blogging takes up most of the time I have outside of work. It can become a problem if you are not careful.
The key is to remember what is truly important and don’t sacrifice unless you can afford it.
Although it is a good idea to run couple of blogs, but if you want to be very successful, 1 would be enough, in case you update it regularly!

Good for you on running all those blogs. I’m finding it difficult to keep up with one! However, I think the time management is key. I think having multiple blogs is a great idea and aspire to this in the future.

I’d love to expand my blog portfolio. The problem is that I have a full time job and can’t write as much as I would.
I think the key to having multiple jobs is getting good writers to help you out.

I’ve discovered something relatively similar. I focus nearly 100% on SEO because my goal is to create a business that doesn’t require constant updating. I love the wordpress CMS, so I use a blogging platform. All those plugins rock.

I agree with you about time management, without it, you can barely manage 1 blog, but with it, the possibilities are endless.
So far, I only have one blog, but am planning on launching another one after my primary one gets settled in

I run four blogs and let me tell you it is very tiring! The time management tip is really, really important as it may make you go crazy! There are times when I won’t sleep, i’ll go to work cranky and half-brain dead. This ain’t healthy. This ain’t good.
I have a question though, I am not very adept at this SEO thing and I know people earn a lot from it. Aside from keyword management, what is SEO about? How can it help?

I find running one blog difficult enough, I have considered multiple sites, but don’t know how I would have time to get everything done :S
I have 14 sites! Most are content websites which I only need to update twice a week. As a newbie in google adsense, i think i am doing a good job on it :p it is time consuming, i admit but then it really pays off as well!
I author 2 blogs and am a contributing author on another. The draft function has become my best friend and I always carry a notebook just for post ideas…
Personally, I run about 5-6 and I’m testing out different niches on the way.
Of course, I wouldn’t consider myself successful but for some reason, quite a few people think I am because I make $x,xxx amount online. I’m not until I’m able to pay all my loans back and quit my day job

I have to admit I’ve gotten better but not perfect. I’ve started concentrating on writing more quality posts, figuring the good content and SEO will draw in the traffic I need.

Nice article,
i run 13 blogs (8 i own and 5 i co-own) and 1 site.
one thing that really helps is writing a list of peaple you can call to guest write so if you cant write somthing, just send out an email and still give your readers somthing to read.
The 2 you mentioned above i really need to work on is 1 and 3 - i have a really screwed up sleep patterns!
Good luck!
