How Do You Remember Your Post Ideas?
I have always struggled with this dilemma. I always seem to have my best ideas for new blog posts when I am not at home and near my computer. How am I supposed to remember it by the time I get home.
Usually these ideas come at the very start of my work day. Take the other morning for example. I had just got to work, getting all the tools out of the truck – and this great post idea hits. Now I am stuck with this problem again. I mean I still have about 8 or 9 hours before I get home, so there is no chance I will remember it if I don’t find a way to record it – but how?
Here Is How I Recorded It (Word For Word):
How to successfully compete in a blogging contest. Success doesnt mean winning. 1. List ur reasons 4 entering. 2. Set ur goals based from ur reasons. 3. Create a plan 2 accomplish ur goals. 4. Carry out ur plans. If u r going to meet ur goals. Adjust higher
I am sure you have guessed already how I record my blog post ideas. Via text message. My phone has a notes section – that is now full blog post ideas, and the full outline of a new ebook that I plan on writing and selling.
So now you know how I remember my blog posts, I would love to know how you do it too! Let me know by commenting below. I might even make a feature the most creative ways.

Ha, great idea! I usually just jot stuff down in a notebook, but have pondered getting another digital voice recorder, which I used to use for other things….speaking is so much quicker than writing and texting.
But, my job places me by a computer for a majority of the day, so I can open up textpad and jot stuff down quickly.
good one

Great idea. I always have a similar problem and couldn’t think of a good way to keep track of them. My worst time for thinking of posts is right when I go to sleep while I’m laying in bed post ideas just start coming and it’s a pain to turn the light on and find something to write on. Figure out a way for me to manage that ;)

Luckily I work at a computer so I can just email myself my ideas (or jot them down in WP). If I’m away from a computer I write them down on paper or save them on my PDA.
I’ll often think of ideas just as I’m falling asleep so I’ll either try to remember in the morning (doesn’t always work), or I’ll get up and write them down. Its very annoying.
I use same method as yours, but sometimes I also use the voice recording option. That’s a really nice feature to have.

My memory serves me quite well in general, but next to that scribbling something down on a piece of paper quickly does wonders too. Dun really do the saving through text message, hardly ever even have my phone with me, hehe.
Alternatively what I do have along frequently is my laptop, so can use that to note down some ideas in as well.

Well, I am usually close enough to a computer to type it into notepad or an email to myself. When I’m not, if I have my PDA I will use that, otherwise, my cell phone has come in handy via voice recordings and text messages. Other methods include finding a piece of paper (I don’t carry a notebook around) and writing it down. Also, I have been known to jot a few keywords down on my hand because I usually have a pen with me and then write the whole thing down on paper or electronically when I get a chance.
Last but not least, when all else fails, I get the idea down to one or two keywords that I just try to remember for later. I find it easier to remember ideas if I think of a few keywords and ideas that summarize them and use that to trigger my memory and recall the rest of the post idea.

I am usually always next to my laptop, but if I ever do have an idea far away, I usually write it down in a notebook

I carry a notepad with my everywhere I go.
It currently has over 100 posts that I am yet to write.
Just small ideas get jotted down, then when I get a bit of time I add to them.
At th start of every week I select the posts I am going to run that week and add them to my blog as a draft.
I then write the posts from there.

I’m still using the traditional method of jotting down my thoughts on a notebook I carry with me all the time.
But the idea of using a voice recorder is a nice alternative.

Tom,
That is a great idea, I just generally throw them to paper.
But more importantly that is a great topic for an e-book. Original and should sell pretty well because most people try to win a competition not use it to gain new readers.
Good luck.

As I do a lot of communting in my work, I always carry a notepad. Actually this is more a jotter than a note pad and allows me to write full posts rather than ideas whilst on the train.
Then at home I just type them into OpenOffice, edit, and paste across to my blog. (if I still feel they’re worthy of course).

I seem to have this problem also. I’ll come up with great ideas but forget them as soon as I get near a computer. I’m going to have to try to figure an alternative way out.
