Email Auto Responders And Why I Love Aweber
I have been blogging for over 3 years now and the whole time I have come across almost every single internet marketer that says, ‘build an email list’.
But isn’t it funny how we never listen the first, second or hundredth time, and in the end try everything else before coming back to what we were told at the start?
That is exactly what happened to me and email auto responders!
Now to be fair, I did end up getting an account with Aweber (one of the bigger email marketing companies), to start building email lists, about a year after I started blogging – but it has never been consistent.
And after 2 years, all I have to show for myself is about 1,500 email subscribers (over a couple of different websites). A good start, but I know this number could have been 5-10 times the size if I was more consistent.
I am currently in the process of changing the whole structure of StandOutBlogger, who I am targeting and how I will be making money from it (and Aweber is going to play a lead role). So while I am not going to go into the details of the changes to come at SOB, I wanted to share with you a few simple reasons that I believe that you should be following me and building massive email lists with Aweber.
Why Every Blogger Needs Aweber
1. Because If You Don’t You Are Missing Profit!
If ‘The Money Is In The List’, as all the guru’s are promoting – then by prolonging the start of your email list you are costing yourself money.
But don’t take my word for it. I challenge you to visit any of your favourite “pro bloggers” (that you know is making at least a full-time income from blogging, and see if they have an email list ( I bet you 9/10 or more, will have an email list) – because it works!
2. You Can Start To Build Trust Automatically
Follow up is important for any business, and blogging is no different,By setting up a series of automated emails that are sent out in the days following a new subscribers decision to join your list you are opening up a line for communication between the two of you.
You would be surprised by the amount of people that join your list because you had a free ebook, and when it comes time for them to receive the ebook, they are busy doing something else (and never read what they signed up for). I know this is true, because I have done it myself many times.
By setting up a sequence of emails, you are able to send them a second email reminding them of the download and asking if they had any problems accessing it.
You see, the majority of people, if they have a problem, will not contact you for help. Instead they will end up unsubscribing and leave with a bad taste in their mouth (probably telling people how bad you and your blog are). However, if you open the lines of conversations, they will be much more likely to reply with any problems that they have.
Other follow up emails could be:
‘What did you think of ‘ebook title‘?
‘Have you started to put ‘ebook topic’ into practice yet?
Once again, all this is doing is opening up the communication lines between you and your subscribers – building trust, and if they decide to contact you - you build relationships.
3. Email Subscribers Are More Likely To Buy Than Blog Readers
As sad as it is, the truth is that you guys are most likely not going to buy anything that I promote (so don’t click this Aweber link! ).
That is because you are conditioned day in and day out, as you visit the string of regular blogs that you read. You know when something is being promoted and you are blind to advertisements.
People sign up to an email list because they want to learn something.
- If you have a product teaching people ‘how to start a blog’ then they will be willing to pay for the things that they need to start a blog.
- If you have a product shows people the benefits of ‘Outsourcing Jobs Overseas‘, they will be willing to do what you recommend - if they trust you!
But Why Aweber?
Now I know there are a lot of other email auto responders out there, but from my personal experience – Aweber is the best. I have tried GetResponse (and they were ok). I didn’t like MailChimp (the first 500 subscribers are free, but I didn’t like their interface.)
But once again, don’t take my word for it. They are currently offering an amazing deal for new list builders – your first month for just $1!

MailChimp does have an impressive list of features, did you notice many feature differences either way between the two?

To be honest, I didn’t around long enough to check them all out. I couldn’t work out how to navigate the interface very well, and it frustrated me – probably just because I was so used to Aweber.
