This is probably the most comprehensive post about blog comments I’ve ever read. Thank you. What people don’t usually appreciate is that comments are user generated content. It saddens me to find so many blogs where you can’t leave comments. If readers can’t leave comments then it isn’t a blog in my book.

Blogs with do-follow removed gets my top vote, hehe. I’m in great favor of no-follow in blogs and use lucia’s link love myself to reward returning commenters with it.

But commenting definitely works to get new visitors, and overtime it’ll only result in bringing in more and more.

and as you guys can see commenting on other blogs surely help you interact with other like minded people, comments are perhaps the most useful tool to bring home the right traffic with help you build community on your blog

but Tom forgot to warn you about the biggest mistake most blogger do while leaving feedback on other blog that is dont tempt with quick link building opportunity and just make sure that you are adding to the discussion instead of merely promoting yourself

Very good tips on the importance of blog commenting.

I for one will look for blogs with the option to be notified of followup comments as I don’t like the idea of dropping comments and forget about it later. The unavailability of such option makes it harder to keep up with all the responses.

As for tip #10, I’ll make it a point to sign off with my name whenever I use my keyword during my comment round.
